The population needs to be educated that defibrillator use is easy, and that in these situations it is impossible to make things worse. Defibrillators are designed to be used by the general public, in times of great stress. At a recent event we were able to demonstrate that a completely untrained Rishi Sunak was able to successfully use a training defibrillator. The confidence to apply and use a defibrillator should be trained from a young age: and should be part of PHSE lessons at secondary school. Defibrillator use should be part of mandatory training for all staff in all facilities which have a defibrillator.
